Entertainment Brittany is well known throughout Europe for it's warm Celtic welcome and ambiance. Saint Goueno is no exception, in fact the 'aprés-piste' activities have become famous amongst French montagnards (hillclimbers). There is so much going on you will need a week off after the event to recover. Thursday: For early arrivals there is an evening get together and buffet meal laid on by the ecurie exclusively for the Masters drivers. This is held in the village centre in a typically Breton bar.
An evening meal is available in the giant marquee erected in front of the salle des fettes (village hall), after eating there is live music and dancing till the early hours.
Saturday: A repeat of Friday evening, more food and wine music and dance.
Sunday: Sunday lunch is served in the Fer à Cheval hairpin marquee, 4 courses including wine, cider, and café all for just €12. There is plenty of time for drivers to walk down from the paddock and enjoy the meal. This is very popular, over 900 meals are served therefore pre-booking is advised. Bars: Chez Maria, or as it is locally known (le cazino). You can get any drink you like . . . as long as it is red wine or a bottle of beer. This unique one room bar is run by Maria who has been the proprietor since the end of the war. The place looks like it hasn't been decorated since that time either but it is an absolute must see. You can sit there and imagine an SS officer walking in, it is real 'Allo Allo'. The Ty Nad is a busy traditional Breton café / bar, the owner Nadine also runs the grocery shop next door. The Auberge du Goueznou is a bar / restaurant serving good traditional food, it is located opposite the salle des fettes |
